Safeguarding

The safety and welfare of every student is our highest priority.

Our Commitment

Every Child Feels Safe

At Edgewood Academy, the safety and welfare of every student is our highest priority. We are committed to creating a secure, nurturing environment where all children feel safe, supported, and able to thrive. Our safeguarding practises reflect our child-centred ethos and are designed to protect and promote the well-being of every learner.

Our Standards

Safeguarding Standards

Every measure we take is designed to create an environment where children feel safe, supported, and able to thrive.

Every child knows who they can talk to if they have a concern.

All staff complete comprehensive Safeguarding Level 1 training as part of their induction and ongoing professional development.

Our senior leadership team includes Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) who have advanced training (Level 2 & 3) and oversee safeguarding across the school.

We ensure safer recruitment practises, with trained staff leading recruitment to safeguard our community.

Staff, volunteers, supply teachers, and visitors are all introduced to our safeguarding policies and expectations.

We work closely with local safeguarding partners, health services, and social care to provide coordinated support for our students and families.

Our safeguarding procedures comply fully with Department for Education guidance and local Stoke-on-Trent safeguarding protocols.

Vulnerable Students

Protecting Every Child

We recognise that many of our students have additional needs and vulnerabilities. Our safeguarding approach is inclusive and responsive, ensuring that every child receives the care and protection they require. We maintain a culture of vigilance and open communication to identify and address any risks promptly.

Family Partnership

Supporting Families

We believe safeguarding is a shared responsibility. We work in partnership with families to support children's safety and well-being, providing guidance and signposting to relevant services. Our Family Support Worker offers practical advice and helps families access local resources.
